Winter & Spring Weeds 

(Active October – April)

• London Rocket: Easily identified by its tall, upright stems, deeply lobed leaves, and small yellow flowers, this invasive weed pops up rapidly following winter rains.
• Stinknet (Globe Chamomile): A serious local hazard, Stinknet forms dark green, carrot-like leaves before producing round, yellow ball flowers from February to May. Once dry, it poses a severe wildfire risk and can cause respiratory or skin irritation.
• Annual Bluegrass: Spreads as light-green, dense mats across lawn spaces and cooler landscape beds before dying off when summer temperatures arrive.

Summer Weeds 

(Active May – October)

• Spotted Spurge: A resilient, mat-forming broadleaf weed that hugs the ground in rock yards and concrete cracks. It thrives in full sun and releases a milky white sap when snapped.
• Pigweed (Amaranth): A fast-growing broadleaf species that shoots up after monsoon rains, producing large quantities of seeds if left unchecked.
• Bermudagrass & Crabgrass: While Bermudagrass is often deliberately grown for summer turf, it rapidly becomes a stubborn weed when its aggressive runners creep into flower beds and rock gravel.
