You have termites.

No one wants to hear that news. Termites in Arizona can cause major damage to your home or office. The only way to keep this damage more manageable is to know the signs that you have termites so the Alpha Pest Control team can help you stop them as soon as possible.

Here are a few signs indicating that you might have termites.

1. Wood that isn’t solid
Termites are attracted to wood as a food source. If you suspect termites, tap on wood surfaces like walls with drywall or wood framing, floors or furniture. If the tapping doesn’t sound solid and sounds hollow, termites may have eaten a portion of the wood leaving just the outer layer indicating that you may have a termite infestation.
2. Mud tubes
Subterranean termites (the ones that live underground) leave mud tubes when they travel through a structure. You might see these brown tubes along foundation walls, on interior walls or ceilings or other entry points. This is one of the most obvious signs that you have termites.
3. Piles of wings
Here’s a plot twist. Some termites, called swarmers, have wings. These termites shed their wings after they mate. If you have termites, you might see a pile of wings that have been shed near windows, door or other entry points.
4. Wood damage
Termites love wood more than anything else. If they have gone to town on wood in your home, in a wall, in the attic, on an outdoor pergola, etc., you might see holes that look like tunnels, cracks or other obvious damage. This is serious structural damage that can be catastrophic to your home. You’ll want to address this right away to make sure it doesn’t get worse and more expensive to mitigate.
